FES Mission Statement

The mission of Featherstone Elementary School's Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate program intended to meet students' social/emotional, academic, and career needs in a nurturing environment. Featherstone school counselors are dedicated to partnering with stakeholders and families to deliver evidence-based supports to empower student growth and build lifelong skills for learning.

FES Vision Statement

Featherstone Elementary School students are responsible learners who believe in their abilities to succeed and are excited to grow. The needs of all students will be met with individualized, age-appropriate curriculum. Students' needs are addressed through a curriculum that fosters self-awareness, personal growth, responsibility, mindfulness, and resiliency.

Hi Friends! My name is Brittany Hayes, and I am your full- time School Counselor. This is my 3rd year as a school counselor, and I am so excited to be back at Featherstone! I know this past year has been challenging, but I am still here for you. I am looking forward to reconnecting and seeing all of you back in person.
I can't wait to get to know each of you more, and I am looking forward to supporting you. A little bit about me...my hobbies include anything that allows me to be active (Yoga, exercising, & hiking), I enjoy mediating and just overall improving my whole self, and my favorite color is black. Hello! My name is Kerry Follis, and I'm the part-time school counselor at Featherstone. This is my first year as a school counselor, and I'm so excited to be here! I'll be at Featherstone on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, and I'll be at Dumfries on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I'm originally from Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia in August. Some of my favorite things include going to the beach, being outside, going on walks, and listening to music. I also have a golden doodle and love the colors blue and yellow. Some of the services available to students include classroom counseling lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I look forward to meeting and working with you all!
